Shno Asad awarded best poster prize at ICONAN 2019
2019-10-23
Shno Asad, PhD student at the Department of Pharmacy at Uppsala University, was awarded the prize for best poster at ICONAN 2019 (International Conference on Nanomedicine and Nanobiotechnology). The conference was held between 16-18 October i Munich.
Title of the poster: "Scalable flame synthesis of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles for triggered drug release from colloidal capsules"
Background: "Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) in the shell of colloidal capsules enable bioimaging and controlled drug release by hyperthermia. These capsules are also promising carriers of biological drugs. The lack of scalable and reproducible synthesis methods of nanomaterials has hindered their translation into clinics. Flame spray pyrolysis (FSP) enables scalable and single-step synthesis of SPION."
