Within the Biofarmacy group we have the following instruments and expertise.
We have a special lab equipped for working with cytostatic materials. The cytostatic lab is fully equipped with:
- Fumehood & LAF-bench
- Scales, heating cabinet, fridge, freezer and centrifuge
- μDISS profiler (pION)
- UPLC-MS (Waters)
- Zeiss AXIO Vert A1 mikroscope
Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) - Mass Spectrometry (MS) is an analytical tool that allows us to study complex samples on a molecular level. We can separate molecules in a mixture and determine their mass.
The Surface Dissolution Imaging (SDi2) instrument allows us to study the drug release from tablets, powders and other types of formulation in situ by using UV-imaging.

The biopharmacy group collaborates regularly with research groups in neuroscience / physiology, physical chemistry and medical cell biology, as well as with doctors at the Akademiska hospital in Uppsala and Karolinska hospital in Solna. For several years we have also worked closely with the National Veterinary Office (SVA) for the development of analytical methods in our projects.
